In 1979, IDM developed and released the Data Management System (DMS) for Abbott Laboratories. DMS became so widely used and depended on throughout the blood bank industry that the last DMS system just recently retired. In 1999, Surround, an open laboratory system, was released to provide a complete DMS replacement for our current customers as well as the blood bank industry.

IDM's first proprietary product, IDM Select Series, was released to blood centers in 1991. The Select Series was expanded to support blood centers' donor record and recruitment management, and blood product manufacturing and distribution. IDM is currently developing its next generation of blood center information system software, IDM Symphony Suite. In addition to providing new functionality not currently available, Symphony will serve as a replacement to IDM's existing Select Series system. The IDM Symphony Suite will give blood centers the optimum combination of functionality and flexibility. It will have the ability to accommodate and anticipate increasingly stringent regulatory requirements while delivering an ongoing return on the blood center's information systems investment.
