Surround is an open and flexible laboratory system that can be interfaced with current and future testing instruments and host systems. With unique decision-making capabilities, multiple instrument interfaces and configurable client management tools, Surround gives more choices to best fit blood center's needs. Surround allows blood banks to customize a default test panel while tracking sample results either automatically or manually. Surround's decision-making embedded intelligence manages the testing process and provides sample and system status reports, including audit trails.

What operating systems can be used with Surround?

The Surround Server and Workstations can both run under Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows. Remote support can be provided using terminal services or another agreed upon support method.

Depending upon the instrument interfaces in use, one or more Surround Instrument Servers may be required, each with a different operating system. Possible operating systems include SCO OpenServer or any of the following for Aeroset and Hitachi instruments: Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows 2003.

What is the database and access method utilized?

What are the hardware requirements to run Surround?

The hardware requirements for the Surround Server are:

Surround is designed for 24-hour operation without user input. Use of an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) is strongly recommended.
